About TrashPickupDays.com

An independent directory of United States residential waste collection schedules — and, just as importantly, the official sources those schedules come from.

Why this site exists

Trash day sounds like it should be simple. It isn't. Collection in the United States is arranged city by city, sometimes street by street, by roughly 19,000 municipalities and hundreds of private haulers. Move four blocks and your day can change. A holiday can slide the whole week. Recycling might run on an alternating cycle nobody explained to you when you moved in.

Plenty of websites will confidently tell you an answer. Very few will tell you where that answer came from, or admit when they don't have one. That gap is the reason this site exists.

What makes us different

Every schedule we publish carries three things on the page itself:

The source

The named city department, county authority, or contracted hauler responsible — with a link to their own page.

The date

When a person last opened that source and confirmed what it said. Printed in plain sight, not buried.

The confidence

Verified, Community-confirmed, or Unknown. We would rather show you nothing than a confident wrong answer.

If your block isn't covered yet, the page says so and sends you to your city's own lookup tool. That's a deliberate choice. A wrong trash day means your bins sit at the curb for a week.

Who runs this

John Weiner

This site started with a small frustration and a bigger discovery. Looking for a straightforward answer to "what day does my trash go out," I found that the schedule sites ranking highest were often serving last year's holiday calendar, placeholder phone numbers, and collection days invented from a template rather than read from any real source. The information existed — it was sitting on municipal websites — but nobody was collecting it carefully or admitting where the gaps were.

So the rule here is simple: publish only what an official source supports, print the date it was last checked, and say "we don't know" where that is the honest answer. It means the directory grows more slowly than it could. It also means that when a page here tells you something, you can click through and check it yourself.

How the site is funded

Schedule information is free and always will be. The site is funded through our services directory: when a reader asks for quotes on something too big for the curbside cart a dumpster rental, a junk removal crew, a cleanout , we pass that request to licensed local providers, and those providers pay us for the referral. Readers are never charged.

We think it's worth saying plainly: that funding model has no influence on the schedule data. A city page shows what the official source says, whether or not there's a provider serving that ZIP.

What we are not

Not affiliated with any municipality or hauler We are an independent information site. We cannot collect your waste, dispatch a truck, resolve a billing dispute, or report a missed pickup on your behalf. For any of those, contact the agency named on your city page.

Help us get it right

Schedules change and sources move. If something on this site is wrong for your street, tell us — reports are checked against the official source before any page changes, so one report never silently overwrites a record.
